In this tutorial, we will be going through the steps necessary to install tasks.php on NetBSD. tasks.php is a simple command line utility for managing your to-do lists in PHP.
Before we begin, ensure that you have the following:
The first step is to install PHP on your system. To do this, run the following command:
# pkgin update
# pkgin install php
This will install the latest version of PHP on your system.
Next, we need to download tasks.php from the GitHub repository. To do this, run the following command:
$ git clone https://github.com/lgg-archive/tasks.php.git
This will download the repository to your current directory.
Now that we have tasks.php, we need to move it to the correct directory so that it can be executed. We will create a directory called bin in our home directory and move tasks.php into it.
To do this, run the following commands:
$ mkdir ~/bin
$ mv tasks.php/tasks.php ~/bin/tasks
We need to add ~/bin to our $PATH environment variable so that we can execute tasks from anywhere in the terminal.
$ echo 'export PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.bashrc
$ source ~/.bashrc
To verify that tasks.php is installed correctly, run the following command:
$ tasks
This will display the help menu for tasks.php.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed tasks.php on your NetBSD system.
